I have consolidated Elon's share sales from SEC Form 4* filing in the table below (since his tweet). At this time of writing (13th November), he has sold approximately 6.4 million shares. Elon is known to own 23% of Tesla according to online sources. Taking 23% of Tesla 1B float, this is approximately 230 million shares.
*What is SEC Form 4?
Statement of Changes in Beneficial Ownership is a document that must be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) whenever there is a material change in the holdings of company insiders.
Based on his earlier tweet, since he proposed to sell 10% of his Tesla shares (seemingly to meet his tax obligations), 10% of 230 million would be 23 million shares.
Does this mean that Elon will continue to sell the remaining 16 million shares? That is another 72% left of his 10% threshold.
Before his tweet, Tesla closed at 1222.09 on 5th Nov.
Tesla latest closing price on 12th Nov: 1033.42
Price has fallen appx 15% after the share sale. And he has 16 million shares / 72% more to go if he decides to continue.
How much lower will Tesla share price go? We shall see!
